Google Making Money from Parked Domains

Google Inc., which runs the largest ad network on the Internet, is making millions of dollars a year by filling otherwise unused Web sites with ads. In many instances, these ad-filled pages appear when users mistype an Internet address, such as "BistBuy.com."

This new form of advertising is turning into a booming business that some say is cluttering the Internet and could be violating trademark rules. It also has sparked a speculative frenzy of investment in domain names, pushing the value of some beyond the $1 million mark.

Google has or is to take every opportunity available to generate revenues for itself. That its generosity to easy money-making to the holders of parked domains would probably instigate more typosquatters to intentionally register more parked domains, won't some day the internet traffic get congulant?
It’s certainly a shady business – don’t we all hate domain squatters and typo squatters for polluting the web?

Malaysia Embraced The World's First "Mobile Visa Wave Payment Pilot" System

If you are a Visa card holder and a Nokia 3230 prototype smartphone, you obviously can do shoppings within Malaysia already, thanks to the world's first credit card payment pilot system via handphone recently launched in Malaysia by Visa International and the largest cellphone maker Nokia Corp.
The "Mobile Visa Wave Payment Pilot" project marks the first step in plans to turn mobile phones into electronic wallets for consumers.

It builds on the Visa Wave smart card technology that uses radio frequencies to eliminate the need to swipe credit card into a reader. Customers wave cards in front of the reader to make payments, similar to "touch and go" cards used in transport systems.

Nokia 3230 prototype phone to be used in the Visa pilot project is embedded with a chip using the latest cryptography, security and smart card technologies, making it highly secure and difficult to counterfeit.

End of the U.S. dollar hegemony?

After the Second World War and following the fall of the Soviet Union in 1989, the so-called “dollar diplomacy”, a policy instituted by William Howard Taft and his Secretary of State Philander C. Knox and designed to enhance U.S. commercial investments in Latin America and the Far East, evolved intodollar hegemony.” Several years later, today, the American dollar’s great influence on the global economy and its dominance seems to be coming to an end.

The reason why the U.S. has been the depreciating value of the American dollar, especially in comparison to the Euro is mind-boggling to the American nation and the entire world specially the past few months. How long will this trend last? Is it a good thing or a bad thing?

To start with, what is the main reason behind the U.S.’s enmity for Iraq, Iran and Syria? It’s not the threat of the weapons of mass destruction that Washington claims those states posses. And it is not the noble mission of spreading freedom and democracy.

Numerous analysts explained following Iraq War and the chaotic situation the U.S. created there, that the main reason behind invading Iraq was the country’s massive oil wealth, which the U.S. and its European allies have no intention to give up.

Some actually suggested that the move that provoked Iraq War was the toppled Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein's decision to sell the Iraqi oil in Euros in the fall of the year 2000, challenging the dominance of the U.S. dollar.

But the issue has been revived back for discussion the last week in the wake of Syria’s decision to switch all of its foreign currency transactions from dollars to euros amid the recent political confrontation with the U.S.

Syrian sources said the latest move is aimed at protecting national economy, especially that U.S. laws stipulate that any financial transactions in dollars must pass through the U.S. banking system.

Analysts have long explained that if the U.S. dollar remained the dominant currency, especially in oil trade, it will be greatly difficult and almost impossible to see how the U.S. can be dislodged from its position as the world's dominant economic power.

Washington has already sensed the potential threat posed by the euro.

Falsehoods of Tony Snow

Fox News host Tony (Robert Anthony ) Snow was named new White House Press Secretary to replalce Scott McClellan who resigned earlier. As he is believed a Conservative pundit, his appointment/host-turn-to-press-secretary is sure to stir the hot debate on American Politics or at least President Bush's admistration. Actually as early as on 19, April, Media Matters already summarized many falsehoods of Tony Snow
  • Snow falsely asserted that former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV said his wife, Valerie Plame, "wasn't covert for six years" before she was exposed as a CIA operative by syndicated columnist Robert Novak.
  • Snow put forward numerous falsehoods to argue that "[e]volutionary theory, like ID [intelligent design], isn't verifiable or testable. It's pure hypothesis."
  • Snow claimed that Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is the "most liberal justice in American history," despite evidence to the contrary.
  • Snow peddled the baseless Republican National Committee talking point that 2004 presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) had blamed U.S. troops for the explosives looted from the Al Qaqaa military installation following the invasion of Iraq. Snow said, "[T]he Kerry campaign is not criticizing the president here. They're criticizing our troops."
  • Following President Bush's lead, Snow distorted Kerry's stated desire to reduce terrorism to a "horrible nuisance." Snow claimed Kerry had "called terrorists a nuisance."
  • Snow backed Swift Boat Veterans for Truth's attacks on Kerry, falsely claiming, "[T]here has been no documentary contradiction of the Swift Boat stuff."
  • Snow falsely defended Bush from probing questions regarding his National Guard service.

Blogger Inside 101 Fabulous Freebies!

In the category of Blogging Tools for Everyone of recent review 101 Fabulous Freebies in PC World, Blogger is its favorite, which made Blogger Buzz so proud!
"Our favorite service is Blogger. The first major free blogging tool (launched in 1999), Blogger stays ahead of the game by remaining incredibly convenient to use and by offering a rich complement of features. If you have a Web server, you can use Blogger to publish your Weblog via FTP. But we like the easy way: hosting the blog on Blogspot. In about 5 minutes, we were able to create a blog, pick an appealing design, and start posting. Uploading images is a simple process, and the service supplies a generous 300MB of photo storage."

"Blogger is especially friendly to mobile bloggers. Can't get access to a computer easily? Send a picture or a text message from your phone to a special SMS address, and up it goes. Blogger's Audioblogger service even offers voice blogging: Just call a special number, enter a code, and say your piece. Blogger converts the sound of your voice (up to 5 minutes' worth) into an audio file and posts it for all to hear."

However, Blogger lose some of these graces because on 24 April its publishing function stuck at 0% for more than 12 hours. The slow response to this glitch by Blogger Supportwhich obviously infuriated its users to some extent. Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

Malaysia ID Has One-year Guarantee

My-Kad, or Malaysian Government Multipurpose Card (GMPC) , is is regarded as the world's first smart identity card. It is the official identity for Malaysian nationals and only now has one-year guarantee for its possible compromises with the exemption from paying a RM40 replacement fee . Snips from the Star:
Admitting that the early batches of the card might have had some problems, Deputy Home Affairs Minister Datuk Tan Chai Ho said they had since been rectified and improved.

“Since 2001, we have had only 260 faulty MyKad,” he said at a function here yesterday.

Tan was responding to complaints by MyKad holders who found their cards to be defective.

One MyKad holder claimed that his photograph was fading even though it was “brand-new”, adding that he had taken care of his card.

Tan said that the guarantee period was a year and if cardholders, during that time, had any “genuine problems”, they could have their cards replaced.

“But any replacement after the one-year guarantee period is subject to a fee of RM40,” he said.

United 93

The film ( based on the September 11, 2001 hijacking of United Airlines Flight 93) starts even well before one enters the theater and its results are familiar with almost film viewers. Hollywood Director Paul Greengrass using his mastery of speciality at creating an almost documentary sense of reality produced this United 93. His 1972 documentary-style film "Bloody Sunday" about civil-rights march in Northern Ireland that resulted in the deaths of 13 people when British soldiers fired into a crowd of protesters is refreshly remembered. The scheduled April 28, 2006, release of United 93 has provoked outrage among those who don't wish to re-experience that dreadful day and sparked the national debate on in the media.

New Zealand Once Leading in Educational Computing

Just learned this from the article entiled How NZ took on IBM and Apple, and lost written by Reuben Schwarz of Stuff. Snips are:
For a few short months 25 years ago, New Zealand was leading the world in educational computing.

Thanks to a team of engineers and designers at Wellington Polytech, New Zealand boasted a computer that rivalled, even bettered, anything made by the global players.

The computer was called the Poly1. How it fought US tech giants such as IBM and Apple – and lost dramatically – is both a testament to New Zealand's entrepreneurial spirit and a bitter example of how a good product can go bust.

Nick Lachey: "I haven't requested alimony at all"

Earlier report says Nick Lachey Still Loves Jessica Simpson, while Simpson 's friend--comedian Jamie Foxx seems not willing to give any face to Lachey over the alimony-seeking issue by strongly expressing 'Jessica Simpson Needs a Real Man'! in a recent interview broadcast. It is sure that Lachey couldn't have been satisfactory with what Foxx did, now he has struck back:
He ignored the call (Lachey made a call to Jamie Foxx after the broadcast), so the next time I saw him I walked up and told him what was what. And he did what I knew he'd do, he said, 'I'm a comedian. I was just making a joke.' "

Investing In Education

Investing in education may be the best investment you’ll ever make. Taking the time to get a degree now will likely greatly improve your career chances and wealth potential in the future. It does mean you’ll have to put off having some things you want now, but it truly is worth it.

Education investments, however, are an entirely different animal. Many companies have learned the value of having an educated workforce and have begun forming partnerships with colleges and universities to ensure they’ll have adequately educated employees.

Another advantage education investments have for businesses is that their contributions are tax deductible. They can invest large amounts of money in colleges and technical schools and write it off on their taxes.

Not only do companies who invest in education get well-trained employees and tax breaks, they also create a lot of goodwill in their communities by forming partnerships and offering scholarships at local schools. Many large corporations in particular need this goodwill in the event of some type of negative publicity. Tobacco companies are a good example. While many people view tobacco companies as evil, the communities those companies are in are highly appreciative of the money they give to schools of all types because it helps those communities draw other businesses in because they have a better educated population in general than many other communities have.

Many investments in education are made through private trusts. These are usually set up and managed by a third-party financial institution. Trusts like these are usually perpetual, meaning the terms never change and the money can be counted on from one year to the next until the trust runs out.

To make and education investment, talk with a good investment advisor. He or she will be able to tell you about education investment opportunities for either your company or you as an individual. Any investment in education is always appreciated and can mean the most to those who have the least.

Google Allows No Any Click Encouragement on Adsensed Pages

When blogger Fyre responded to Google AdSense compliance notice received earlier due to a paragraph of one of his blog posts encouraging users to click a specific ad (not Adsense ads), asking Google if it was permissible to single out and mention clicking on specific ads that were not a part of Google’s AdSense program.

He was replied "NO" from Google:
In response to your question about encouraging language, our program policies do not allow publishers to encourage users to click on advertisements, regardless of whether or not the encouragement is ad-specific or whether the targets of the encouragement are Google ads or not.
Days earlier, in another email Google also clearly explained:
Publishers are not permitted to encourage users to click on Google ads or bring excessive attention to ad units. For example, your site cannot contain phrases such as “click the ads,” “support our sponsors,” “visit these recommended links,” or other similar language that could apply to the Google ads on your site. Publishers may not use arrows or other symbols to direct attention to the ads on their sites, and publishers may not label the Google ads with text other than “sponsored links” or “advertisements.”
So make sure you are not violating the Adense regulations and it is important to keep in mind that you should not intentend to apply any unsolicited language to encourage your visitors to click Ads in the page where it is participating Google Adsense program.

Unusual Adsense Tips

1. Position Ads Out of Sight - Ensure that you put any ad units that you put on your blog below the fold where they’ll be sure not to annoy your readers.

2. Only post to your blog once every few weeks - Lull your readers into a hypnotic trance decrease the chances of them ever visiting your blog.

3. Unclear Post Topics - If and when you do choose to post make sure that your posts have as little focus as possible in terms of topic.

4. Poor Post Titles - Never use the keywords that relate to your post in your post’s title. In order to get lower paying (and irrelevant) ads use the word ‘blog’ as much as possible both in your titles and posts.

5. Never set your ads to show Alternative Ads - If you do your readers will see ads that might make you money when Google can’t find any of their own to show (something that ideally you will have if you get #4 above right).

6. Click your own AdSense ads - This might make your AdSense total go up for a little while but the chances are that you’ll never see the money because you’ll be banned from the system.

7. Break Other Rules - If clicking on your own ads doesn’t get you banned fast enough try breaking some of the other AdSense terms and conditions like blatantly encouraging your readers to click your ads, using obscene language, writing constantly about violent and adult topics, labeling your ads with things like ‘free prizes if you click here’ or by putting flashing arrows pointing at the ads etc.

8. Make your ads stand out - Set your AdSense ad design to completely clash with the rest of your blog’s design.

9. Never track your AdSense ads performance - Definitely do not use channels to monitor how your different ads perform.

10. Lower your Traffic - Ultimate the probably one of the best ways to ensure you never make much money from AdSense is to work hard at maintaining as little traffic as possible to your blog.

There are 10 Tips to Lower Your AdSense Revenue!

Beginners Guide To Stock Investing

If you are a beginner and thinking about stock investing, there are some basic tips that you can consider that will make your investment career go a lot more smoothly. First, think of the stock market as a giant auction only the ownership in the businesses is what’s up for grabs!

Most beginners need to understand how the stock investing works in the market. Stocks are traded at places called exchanges and there are traders who buy and sell shares of different companies for different prices.

The price of these stocks is determined by supply and demand so people wanting to buy a stock will send the price up because those shares are rarer and in more demand. People will pay a higher price for the stocks that are in demand.

On the other hand, beginners don't always understand the fact that stock investing makes for a lot of shares that are for sale and no one is interested in buying them! In these cases, the prices of the stocks will quickly fall because the demand is low.

When someone purchases stock in a company, they become part owner of the company and they can take a share in its profits. The more shares a person buys, the more ownership they are going to have in the company.

A simple beginners example of stock investing may help to clarify the situation. Lest suppose that you have $100 to invest and you decide to invest it in a company that has stock selling for $2 per share. You then own 50 shares. If the company's share price rises to $3 per share, you will then have $150 in stock value that you didn't have before! Essentially, you will have made a 50% return on your investment!

This is what stock investing is all about! Stocks can be labeled in many ways, such as common stock, preferred stock and penny stock.

The important thing for the beginner in stock investing is knowing which stocks to choose right before they increase in price. If you stick to some basic principles of investing, you are sure to become a wise investor in the future.

Social Networking--Hot Properties

Just a few months ago, many experts and investors were inclined to dismiss social networking sites as a mere fad. Regardless of how many members sites such as MySpace and Facebook racked up, critics warned that supposedly fickle young Internet users were likely to rush away as soon as the next hot startup came along. And some advertisers were skeptical about the effectiveness of the medium, which features user-created content of a sometimes questionable nature.

Those fears could still turn out to be valid. The sky hasn't fallen yet, though. So with each passing month, investors, big media companies, and advertisers are being forced to seriously consider whether social networking sites can have a viable long-term business model. Whether or not there's a future for social networking, players that are high on the sector's prospects, or simply don't want to miss out on its potential, are pouring in serious money.
Isn't a trend that social networking are becoming hot properties! Link Tags: , , ,

How To Be A Self-made Millionaire

Everybody wants to make a million. But must of us don’t have any idea how to do it. Most of us seem to think that millionaires just happen, but actually there are some common attributes that self-made millionaires share. If you’re wondering how to become a millionaire yourself, take note of the traits that seem to make these people successful.

First and foremost, self-made millionaires aren’t afraid of risk. They realize that in order to grow your money, you have to be willing to venture into new territory. Now, that’s not to say that they take foolish risks; in fact most millionaires have thoroughly researched their investments ahead of time. Even if the idea is completely new, the millionaire to be will have complete faith in the concept and have facts to back up the assumption that the idea will work.

A second very important trait of self-made millionaires is a saving mentality. Instead of making money in order to spend it, they make money in order to save it. These are two fundamentally different perspectives on money, and this way of thinking is responsible for many people who never had a really high paying job being able to make millionaire status.

A third attribute of millionaires is perseverance. Those who are able to make millionaire status have an innate ability to focus on a goal and never retreat from it. And most of the time, being a millionaire isn’t the goal. This type of personality thrives on challenge and success. They pick an idea and see it through regardless of the obstacles in their way. The money that follows is the icing on the cake.

So, if you believe becoming a millionaire is in your future, these are some attributes you can emulate to help you make your goal. Find a dream, stick to it, and be willing to make the sacrifice and take the risks that will make your financial dreams come true!

Feng Shui in Cars

It is wellknown that the ancient Chinese art of feng shui has been associated with buildings, however nowadays Feng Shui also applied to the cars. A study done on four cars regularly seen on UK roads – a Nissan Micra, a Volkswagen Passat, a Porsche Boxster and a Lexus 4X4 shows the best ways to improve the feng shui in a car:
  • Remove clutter from the car: it ‘sucks the life force out of the driver’.

  • If using wi-fi connections such as Bluetooth, drivers and passengers should drink regular quantities of still water to flush out the effects of this negative and draining energy from their bodies.
  • To get rid of negative energy inside the car, which could affect the driver’s mood, the owner should sit in the car and sing, clap their hands or play music to make a statement that it is now your cleared space and will go forward refreshed and free from past events.

  • Keep the windows clean: this allows chi energy to enter the car from outside. In feng shui terms, the windows are the eyes for the car.

  • Tie a small blue ribbon on the satellite navigation or the rear-view mirror: the colour blue is a representation of Water, the perfect driving state of mind: clear, thoughtful, flowing and clear.

  • Keep a bottle of water in the car for the same reason

  • Sprinkle sea salt crystals on the carpets: they absorb passengers’ negative energy and can be cleaned out regularly taking the negativity with them.

Budget Airline--Jejuair Ready to Fly

One new Korean budget airline Jejuair will take off on this June 5. . The airlines reduces overheads by skipping services such as free meals and drinks and instead sell indigenous products from Jeju Island to make profits. The airline has bought state-of-the-art 74-seater turboprop Q400s from Bombardier of Canada.

Budget airlines are recording remarkable growth in Asia, making foray into niche markets neglected by existing big charter carriers with strong price competitiveness.
Budget airlines would be even more appreciated if they could reduce the delay rates! Jejuair, has you been prepaired for this? I took AirAsia three times, it seemed that no one departed on time. Link Tags: , , ,

Such news was welcomed by the two countries business men on the ongoing 99th Chinese Export Commodities Fair held in Guangzhou, China.

There have been no direct flights between Iraq and China since the Gulf War in 1990, though Iraqi Airways used to operate a direct flight between Baghdad and Beijing on a weekly basis before the war.

Currently Iraqi people had to fly to China via a third country, such as Jordan, Turkey or the United Arab Emirates. Link Tags: , , , ,

"This unprecedented method will provide uniform standards for the data collection and allow decision makers in governments, academia and the general public to have a better understanding of China's robust e-commerce industry," said Chinese Vice-Minister of Commerce Liao Xiaoqi at the press conference for the issue of the 2004-2005 China E-Commerce Report.

What's the kind of the method? There is no clear indications. Maybe it's not important for the people who are not academia as the report represented the highest achievements of Chinese academia..

PagerankToplist.com launched

A new service using Google PageRank data to rate various websites was launched PagerankToplist.com.

The unique feature of PagerankToplist.com is the fact that links back to participating sites are direct (static, not using any dynamic scripts) thus passing Google PageRank to them.

Since all sites are grouped by categories, PageRank they get is "relevant". So, one can use this service as replacement for classic link exchange. The higher PR website has, the higher position it will get in topsite and thus receive more traffic back.

The websites offering free and helpful services or information in English are probably preferably accepted.
