He is called Li Guoxing, from a remote village in Yunnan of Southwest China. His case is somewhat similiar to
Isabelle Dinoire's, as the latter was ripped off her face by the dog, while Li was attacked by the black bear. Thanks to the bridging of
Natural Conservancy, a US-based NGO, which studied the living conditions of black bears in Yunnan, Li
was offered a chance to do transplant surgery in Xijing Hospital in northwest China's Shaanxi Province and then became the first successful face transplant operation in the country.
