Foreign Cartoons Banned In China During Prime Hours

China's TV watchdog, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) warned in a document issued to local TV stations:
No foreign cartoons or programs of introducing foreign cartoons can be shown during the period [5 p.m. to 8 p.m., or so-called golden hours, effective since Sept. 1, 2006] on all domestic cartoon channels and children channels.
Can this measure revitalise the China's own cartoon production?
