Pluto found by American astronomer
Clyde Tombaugh and named after God of the Underworld in Roman mythology by
Venetia Phair is now not a planet any longer after astronomers in International Astronomical Union's (IAU) 10-day General Assembly in Prague have
voted to
strip Pluto of its status as a planet. Instead, it is now categorized as a dwarf planet, together with the biggest asteroid asteroid in solar system Ceres, Pluto's moon Charon and the distant world known as 2003 UB313 (Xena). But
not all the scientists agree with the decision. Also Clyde Tombaugh's widow Patricia today
said she was "shook up" by yesterday's decision to no longer include Pluto as a planet in our solar system. Even
