When grandpa Ding from Shenyang of northeast Liaoning Province was cleaning the steel pipes in his vegetable garden, he surprisingly found 38 small white 'flowers' growing on one of the smooth pipes. After consulting his neighbours, they believed that the slimmer-than-human-hair flowers were the legendary Youtan Poluo flower (优昙婆罗花) or Udumbara in English, which blossoms only once every 3,000 years. But flower experts like Guo Xi-chang thought the rare 'plant' is just some a kind of mosses, as it is impossible for the real flower to grow without soil and other nutrients.
Anyway, Mr. Ding wishes those rare 'flowers" can bring him good luck.
Update: Thanks to a RC reader's tip, the legendary flowers' turns out to be lacewing eggs!!!
