Video: Microsoft Showcasing Multi-touch Protype Laptop

Microsoft Research Cambridge's Steve Hodges shows off infrared-based multi-touch technology [that was also applied to Microsoft's Surface Table earlier] for computer laptops.

Responding to the concerned technology, Gizmodo's Adam Frucci wrote:
Will multi-touch displays replace the boring old mouse in the future? I'm highly skeptical, but it looks like enough money is being pumped into the technology.
