Viktor Zubkov
, a colleague of Vladimir Putin when then working in St Petersburg, was confirmed as Russia's new prime minister by the votes of 381 to 47 from the lower house of Russian parliament. Mr. Zubkov, a 65-year-old former financial crime investigator, is to put 'war against corruption' and developing traditionally strong sectors as his work priorities.
