Evan Zimmerman (picture left) is a former Wisconsin officer from Monona. In 2001, he was a wrongly convicted first-degree murder of his girlfriend Kathleen Thompson, 38, of Eau Claire.
He spent three years in prison until the conviction was thrown out in 2005.
Zimmerman sued the city of Eau Claire and three Eau Claire Police Officers. But his suit was dismissed. On July 1, Zimmerman died of cancer when he was in the process of appealing that decision.
