Chicken Rabanita Lays Green Eggs In Mexico

Chicken In Mexico Lays Green Eggs pictureRabanita, an ordinary-looking brown hen, has become a celebrity in the small Mexican town - because she can lay special green-shelled eggs since last December.

Her owner, Elvira Romero, got the hen as part of a government aid package to help villagers. She said Rabanita has a diet of corn, tortillas and chicken feed, just like the other chickens do.

Scientists believe that the shell colour is determined by the genes, and the colour of the eggs' shells does not affect the color or flavor of the yolk inside.
