Parents disappointed with Britney Spears & Rihanna’s kiss at 2011 Billboard Music Awards

The now-famous kiss Britney Spears and Rihanna shared on the stage at 2011 Billboard Music Awards last Sunday has made quite a lot of buzz and continues to draw people’s attention, but for all the wrong reasons. Parents Television Council (PTC) has released their angry statement calling the performance and the kiss an “overtly sexualized” sex show glamorizing “whips, chains and other fantasies.”

PTC president Tim Winter believes the kiss the two singers shared in the opening performance is not appropriate for prime-time TV as it’s aimed at teens and promotes the wrong behavioral patterns to follow.

What happened in Vegas should have stayed in Vegas, as the saying goes. [The kiss] certainly has no place at 8:00 p.m. on the publicly-owned broadcast airwaves,” PTC said in the angry message. “I cannot imagine what would possibly lead the ABC television network to air a profanity-laced, S&M sex show on primetime broadcast television. The overtly sexualized performance by Rihanna and Britney Spears was no accident or mishap, but a deliberate effort to target teens with images and lyrics that glamorize whips, chains and other sexual fantasies.”

In case you forget, at the Billboard Music Awards Britney Spears joined Rihanna in her performance of ‘S&M’. Both singers, clad in bondage-style swimsuits, played with chains and S&M masks, kissed and ended the performance with a sexy pillow fight.
