It's not rare for sportsmen to ingest the drug, the characteristically red bearded Scott Spiezio is just one of them!
St. Louis Cardinals infielder Scott Spiezio has been placed on Major League Baseball's restricted list for a problem related to unspecified substances.
The Cardinals say Spiezio came forward to the team.
Manager Tony La Russa would not comment on whether the substances were related to steroids or recreational drugs.
When he was asked if he expected Spiezio to return this season, he said, "absolutely."
Doctor George Paletta is the team's medical director. He says it speaks highly of Spiezio to come forward admitting recognition of a potential problem.
Paletta says the team will provide him access to resources for evaluation and treatment.
The time frame for Spiezio's return to the club hasn't been determined.
