Dr. Donda West, the mother of rap superstar Kanye West, has died at the age of 58. Mrs. Donda passed away on Saturday night in a Los Angeles hospital. The reason for her death was not revealed.
Kanye West was in London when he was given the tragic news and immediately boarded a flight back to LA, said Hollyscoop.
Donda West, was a former chairwoman of Chicago State University’s English Department before taking on the position of Kanye's manager in 2004. She was also CEO of West Brands LLC and co-founder of the Kanye West Foundation.
The rapper had a close relationship with his mother, who raised him as a single mother in Chicago after divorcing his father Ray, a former Black Panther, when Kanye was 3.
