Johanna Sigurdardottir, Iceland's Prime Minister Is World's First Gay Government Head

Johanna Sigurdardottir [wikipedia], Icelandic Minister of Social Affairs who is a lesbian, is to be installed as Prime Minister of Iceland on Saturday, January 31, 2009. Sigurdardottir replaces Geir Haarde who resigned over the domestic outrages for collapsing Iceland's economy as a care-take Prime Minister. After taking oath of office, Ms. Johanna Sigurdardottir, 66, will become Iceland's first female PM and the world's very first openly gay female head of government. She is expected to take her embattled country through to the end of general elections to be held in May .
